Now Hiring: Project Engineer Paint Shop

Summary:  In search of a Project Engineer in Apaseo el Grande, Gto., Mexico to lead and manage thru systematic approach in design, development, installation, sustainability and optimization of manufacturing processes and equipment.

 

Duties:

  • Support Daily Operation
    • Day to day follow up on KPI/metrics result for Paint Shop, use of FMDS Dimensions
    • (Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, Compliance, etc.)
    • Technical support to Paint Shop on equipment and process related design, development, handling and troubleshooting (Prior and during production startup).
    • Follow up on equipment critical issues and use problem solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful countermeasures
    • Communicate with External & Internal Groups (Plant Departments, Corporate areas, Contractors, Suppliers, etc.)
  • Manage processes changes
    • Evaluate risk and manage change point process on daily basis
    • Lead or support capacity increase requirements based on company needs
    • Support Production decision making based on equipment capacity/performance
    • Follow up change conditions until the confirmation of 4Ms successful results
  • Manage Equipment and Model changes
    • Lead or support vehicle model change activities
    • New or Modified Equipment (responsibility for new or modified equipment introduction from design/development through SOP)
    • Assure spare parts CD setup prior to SOP (start of production)
    • Facilitate training to pilot/production team members on new skills required
  • Manage Shop Operational and Capital Expenses
    • Generate Budget and Capital Expenses Strategy/Plan based on shop needs
    • Generate Project investment Plans and get approval for each Project Budget
    • Execute project investment through all its stages, assuring quality and project timing
  • Specialist must be exposed to work in a fast-paced environment and to take decisions related to equipment, process and people
  • Must be able to setup, modify and improve new or existing processes
  • Must be able to manage simultaneous projects on 2 shifts and Plant requirements 24/7 Flexibility to work on projects and assignments on weekends and holidays
  • Specialist must analyze and take decisions related to equipment and process that will impact daily operation
  • Develop and implement short to long term countermeasures based on Problem Solving Analysis
  • Confirm all necessary conditions 4Ms related with new processes /equipment’s to assure smooth implementation during changes
  • Support & Interact with corporate groups on meetings, workshops, projects, etc.
  • Interaction with all plant departments and internal contractors
  • External contact with suppliers and other plant personnel
  • Multiple interaction with different groups and contractors during plant startup
  • Adopt systems and standards in a fast pace
  • Flexibility to travel and stay long periods for Equipment Buy-Off & Training
  • Capacity to manage different priorities and working under pressure for SOP
  • Visualize priorities on Specialist Board
  • Confirm with Upper Management during Startup
  • Meeting Follow up Change Conditions & Open Projects utilizing change point management board
  • Attend Working Meeting with Cross Functional Groups Coordinate Contractor’s activities and Project Safety Management
  • Update Operation Plans and visualize progress on Specialist Board

 

Education & Experience:

  • B.S. degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Electromechanical (or alike)
  • Required:
    • 3 or more years’ experience in Automotive Paint Engineering
    • Must have strong knowledge on next subjects:
    • High Volume Production Plant
    • Process Setup and improvement
    • Equipment installation and commissioning
    • Paint related defects, repair methods, and route cause analysis.
    • Vehicle Part installation
    • Black Out Spray and Cavity Wax application and control methods.
    • Inspect and repair methods
    • Vehicle jig design, build, installation, and mass production handling.
    • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PPT, etc.)
  • 1 year Equipment installation & process Changes
  • Preferred:
    • 1 year experience in an automotive industry on Paint Shop Area description
  • Experience in:
    • Supervision and People Management Skills
    • AutoCAD (Basic-Mid)
    • MS Project
    • Video Editing knowledge
